Conventional Stucco/Plastering has been around for ages and varies
in its thickness
( 1/2”, 3/8”,
3/4”, 7/8” etc.).
This system
consists of the following:
1.
Metal Lath – with or without paper
2.
Expansion and Control Joints
3.
Scratch Coat
4.
Brown Coat
5.
Finish Texture
EIFS
(Exterior Insulation Finish System)

The EIFS has
several systems that are in the market:
The EIFS may
have several components:
1.
Weather Barrier – Backstop – smooth or texture
2.
Foam is applied
either by adhesive or mechanically fastened, usually foam comes in
1”, 1 1/2”, 2” thick. The thicker the foam the higher the R-Value
of the building/house.
3.
Primus/Cement
admixture is applied with a fabric mesh.
4.
Finish Texture
is applied – several texture are possible.
It should be
noted that some EIFS systems have a foam groove for possible
moisture drainage also the weather barrier is not used in most
applications.
